Talking

ok- years ago i sent out almost 100 xmas cards each year...then things changed...divorce and the cost of postage and the cost of the cards....soooooooooo

now i send cards to those who send one to me (is that selfish?) note: some do get a first card...so i am not a total bastard.

but am i being totally outawack when i think less of those who send a card and its one of the ones with the names printed on it...? no sig- no note- address label done by a computer...no real thought other than push a button on the comp.- see what pops up from last year and print the address label and send it...i figure they put the stamp on it at least...(if they don't have a mailing machine)

hell, i dunno, mebe i am being an ass...but i sign all my cards- try to put a note in ones that need them(handwritten)...
anyways...

like i said...just a rant...

i've said it once, i'll say it again..
i don't like anything about christmas..
especially the snow..
and the happy people
and the singing
and the let's spend all our money on things we can't afford!
YES!

as for christmas cards.. a person'd be lucky to hear well wishes for the season from me, myself.. much less read about it on a card..

i am sorry that you feel this way. i, too, am not a big fan of what has become of this season, but...i feel goodness and purity in snow- and i am happy for people who are happy- and i love music from anyone who wants to sing...for any reason at any season.

the spending money is up to the individual and can come at any season or any reason...*choice*

guess the good old serenity prayer says it all...

and that, i can accept.

i bid you peace,

Seeing as how Christmas is supposed to be a time of warmth, compassion, joy, and love, when you get one of those cards from a machine it just doesn't have the ambiance one would expect for the season. A signature, a little note, even a specially picked out card specifically for you goes a long way whereas the computer gimmick of Hallmark throwing up on the season finds the shredder pretty fast. So no, Dave, you're not selfish at all. You're the one taking the time and making the effort, it's not wrong to expect a little of it back.
